My name is Christina Mahar and I teach third, fourth, and fifth grade ESL. I have been teaching for fourteen years and have specifically taught ESL for twelve years. I have an Associates Degree in foreign languages, Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, and a Masters Degree in Teaching English as a Second language.
I am originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil. My parents are from Colombia and Bolivia, so I also speak Spanish. I moved to the United States when I was seven years old. The transition to a new country, new school, and new language was difficult for me at the time. Having said that, I have no regrets because my own struggles are what fuel the passion I have for teaching my ESL students.
I am also the proud mother of two children, Elizabeth and James, and am married to my best friend, Matthew. Outside of school I enjoy cooking, traveling, learning about new languages and cultures, reading, and spending lots of time with my family.
